OSHAWA — Oshawa students who need a little extra help with homework can now use their Oshawa public libraries membership to access online help.

Through their membership, they can use Brainfuse, a service that connects students from kindergarten to Grade 12 with professional tutors. There is also some help available for post-secondary students.

Live tutors help in subjects like math, science, reading, social studies, history, geography and language arts. Brainfuse also has a writing lab to help students organize their writing structure and there is a core skills building section for adult learners.

Students can also access STEM Village which was introduced earlier in 2017. That resource fully supports the Ontario curriculum and is aimed at making science, technology, engineering and math fun and accessible.

“Now more than ever, it is crucial for students of all ages to prepare for their future,” said library CEO Francis Newman. “While supporting the path to lifelong learning has always been a core value of public libraries, we eagerly continue to expand and embrace new technologies in order to do so.”
