As Connecticut school districts plan high-dosage mathematics tutoring for students in grades 6–10, Brainfuse is now among the virtual providers approved by the Connecticut State Department of Education. Its inclusion on the Approved Tutoring Organizations List expands districts’ options with a flexible approach to frequent, small-group math support that fits school schedules and connects with classroom instruction.
Brainfuse’s high-dosage tutoring programs deliver the structure and continuity central to Connecticut’s initiative through frequent sessions, small student groups, consistent tutors, and instruction connected to classroom learning. Students meet individually or in groups of up to four, typically for at least three 30-minute sessions each week over 12 weeks, so each session builds on the last.
“A strong tutoring program should feel like an extension of the school day, not another disconnected platform for students to navigate,” said Nakeia Jones, K–12 Partnerships Manager at Brainfuse and a former Baltimore City Public Schools educator. “When students meet regularly with a familiar tutor, and the work reflects what is happening in class, tutors can identify gaps early, respond to them, and help students build confidence over time.”
District curriculum, assessment results, and student learning needs can guide each program. Brainfuse tutors use that information to reinforce grade-level mathematics, address prerequisite skills, and adjust instruction as students progress. Tutoring aligns with Connecticut Core Standards and can take place during, before, or after the school day.
In the Brainfuse online classroom, students and tutors can work through problems together using an interactive whiteboard, chat, audio, video, screen sharing, and file sharing. Secure dashboards give teachers and administrators access to attendance, tutoring time, skills addressed, assessment performance, tutor notes, and student progress.
From initial setup through ongoing program reviews, districts work with a dedicated Brainfuse implementation team that helps coordinate student access, scheduling, technology integration, staff communication, and reporting.
