Free tutoring is coming for kids in Tulsa County and all you need is a library card to qualify.
In just a few keystrokes, students will have the power to access free online homework help for just about any subject.
Students from kindergarten to 12th grade are eligible; there’s even some college tutoring available.
Parent Brandy Williams said, “I think it’s really neat that they have access to math tutors.”
Williams is a mother of three and says she doesn’t have all the answers, especially when it comes to math.
“A lot of parents even struggle at the beginning level of math,” she said.
But the Tulsa City-County Library is helping.
For two years now, the library has partnered with an online tutoring service to offer Homework Help Now. The tutors are based all over the country,
As long as students have a library card, they’ll have access to the program on any computer with internet access.
Brenda Radke with the Tulsa Library said, “Basically, just type in the question you have and they’ll live chat with you.”
The live tutoring is available from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., but students can email in homework assignments to get feedback anytime.
It even works for Spanish speaking students.
“All they have to do is ask for a Spanish speaker. And they themselves can get the homework translated if that’s the only issue they need, other than helping them understand how to do the homework,” Radke said.
Williams said the online service is an easy tool to give students the best chance at success.
“You just have to get here and sign up for it and the help is there,” she said.
Thursday, there’s a back to school fair at the Martin Regional Library. Staff will hand out school supplies and other community resources.
