Libraries across East Hampton Town are there to help you get through the days at home.
While the Montauk Library is closed, it has enhanced its digital presence with free online services available with a library card, including e-books and audiobooks at livebrary.com, e-magazines through Flipster, and independent and classic movies that can be streamed through Kanopy. Family history can be researched at ancestry.com, and language classes are at pronunciator.com. Students can access homework help on the library’s website using the brainfuse.com link.
For anyone who does not have a library card, applications for a temporary card number can be submitted at search.livebrary.com/selfreg. Due dates on all library items have been extended, all late fees have been waived, and Wi-Fi is available in the library parking lot. Many employees of the library are staying connected by reading and writing reviews of books, and they will be posted on the library’s website.
The East Hampton Library is hosting a live online trivia challenge for high school-age students on the Zoom video conference app on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
The Amagansett Library remains closed and all programs canceled until further notice, but Lauren Nichols, the library’s director, has made a 13-minute video tutorial explaining how to download books, movies, and audiobooks, and how to register for a library card to do so.
The library’s home page has also been updated to include links to websites with important resources such as the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization, the Suffolk County Health Department, and The Star’s COVID-19 coverage, which is free to all, no subscription needed.
